Parenting and supporting neurodivergent children is a journey filled with both joy and challenge. This webinar series is designed to bring clarity, hope, and practical strategies to families and professionals who want to better understand and support children in ways that reduce burnout and foster resilience.
Neurodivergent is a term used to describe people whose brains work differently in the way they think, learn, process information, or experience the world. This includes individuals with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning or developmental differences.
This 3 part series is facilitated by Occupational Therapists. You will have full access to their knowledge and experience. The webinar series will be recorded so if you can't join live, you will have access to the recording.
Part 1: Understanding Burnout, Masking, and the Paradigm Shift
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

Identify the signs and symptoms of burnout in your child and maybe even yourself.

Define masking and explain its impact on a child’s well-being.

Describe why a paradigm shift is necessary in supporting neurodivergent children.

Apply new perspectives and approaches to better support children at home.
Part 2: Sleep and Neurodivergent Children
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

Identify the prevalence of sleep challenges in neurodivergent children.

Explain the role of sleep as a core occupation of childhood.

Recognize the effects of disrupted sleep on behavior, attention, and emotional regulation.

Describe how sleep efficiency begins at wake time and continues throughout the day.

Identify three takeaways that will help you think about sleep differently at home.
Part 3: Nature as a Therapeutic Intervention for Neurodivergent Children
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

Summarize research on the benefits of nature for neurodivergent children.

Differentiate between types of outdoor experiences and identify which are most supportive.

Develop ideas for incorporating nature into daily family routines in meaningful ways.
